EBCE Launches Energy Incentive Finder Tool for Residential Customers

Innovative web tool helps residents find federal, state, and local rebates and incentives for energy efficiency and electric transportation

Oakland, CA – July 21, 2023 – Since last year’s signing of the federal Inflation Reduce Act (IRA), hype and anticipation around incentives for energy efficiency and electric vehicles has never been higher. The IRA promises incentives for heat pumps and other appliances, windows, doors, solar panels and battery storage, as well as a Clean Vehicle Credit of up to $7,500. Those are all in addition to the incentives offered across California, as well as local incentives offered by cities and agencies including East Bay Community Energy (EBCE).

So how is a resident supposed to navigate this complex maze of potential, and constantly evolving, incentives when they want to get the best deal on a heat pump water heater or electric car? Enter the
EBCE Incentive Finder.

EBCE’s Incentive Finder, available at
incentives.ebce.org, is a first-of-its-kind tool in that it both pulls data from federal, state, and local sources, while also having a scope that spans home electrification as well as transportation electrification.

Search Parameters include zip code, renter/homeowner, household income, tax filing status, and household size. This allows the tool to provide customized results that include income-qualifying incentives and/or geographically-specific incentives, as well as incentives that are specific to whether the user owns or rents their home.

The search results are then filterable by subcategories of building or transportation sectors, level of government incentive (federal, state, or local) and the type of discount (rebate, tax credit, etc.). EBCE will update the Incentive Finder as new incentives are launched, revised, or terminated; federal incentive data are pulled from
Rewiring America’s API.
