About Ava Charge
Ava’s mission is to drive increased access to clean energy, serving the needs of our customers and the well-being of our community. Cleaner transportation is part of that equation, but a large portion of Ava customers live in multi-family housing, with limited access to electric vehicle (EV) charging. To encourage the adoption of EVs, Ava is building a network of EV fast charging stations that are powered by renewable energy and located where people work, live, and gather.
The first Ava Charge station is located in the City Center West Garage in downtown Oakland, surrounded by multi-family housing buildings and local businesses. Additional Ava Charge locations are under development.

We’re new to EV charging. And while we have world-class partners supporting Ava Charge, we know we’ll learn a lot as we deploy our charging network.
When you charge at City Center West Garage, you’ll have the opportunity to fill out a short customer feedback form. Your input will help us improve the experience for everyone.
FAQs
Why is Ava providing public EV fast charging?
Ava is building a network of EV fast chargers because we want more people to drive electric vehicles. A large percentage of greenhouse gas emissions in our service territory come from transportation. Removing gasoline-powered vehicles from the road is crucial to lowering emissions and combating climate change.
We know from research that access to fast, reliable charging is a key barrier to EV adoption. This is especially true for those who live in multi-family or other housing where home charging isn’t an option.
Ava Charge stations are located in areas with lots of multi-family housing and near places where people work and gather so drivers can quickly charge up and get back to their day.
How much does it cost?
Access the PlugShare or EV Connect apps to see current prices. There is no session initiation fee.
Parking fees: City Center West Garage parking fees are waived for the first hour while your EV is charging; there is no need to pay for parking through Oakland’s Parkmobile process. If your car remains in the garage past one hour, please pay the posted rates.
Idle fees: There is a 15-minute grace period after your charge is complete. After the grace period, you will incur an idle fee.
How do I pay for my charging session?
You can pay with credit card, debit card, mobile wallet (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay), or via the EV Connect App, which you can download from the App Store. You don’t need to create an account if you prefer not to, though you will need to enter payment information into the app before charging.
