Piedmont
The City of Piedmont helped found Ava in 2016—and has been using Ava’s clean energy since 2018. Its residential and municipal accounts are automatically enrolled in Ava’s Renewable 100 service. Commercial accounts in Piedmont are automatically enrolled in Ava’s Bright Choice service.

Piedmont’s Energy Transition
In order to offer Piedmont businesses and residents cleaner energy, and to help the City of Piedmont achieve its Climate Action Plan goals, the Piedmont City Council voted to join Ava Community Energy (Ava) in November 2016. Ava began serving residential, business, and municipal electricity customers throughout Piedmont in 2018.
In 2018, the Piedmont City Council voted to set the default electricity option for Piedmont residents (except those on CARE, FERA, and/or Medical Baseline rates) to Ava’s Renewable 100 service. Renewable 100 service is sourced from 100% wind and solar facilities, including our new wind farm in Livermore. Renewable 100 costs an additional 1/4 cent per kilowatt-hour above PG&E rates. That’s about $1 more per month for a typical Piedmont home. Customers in Piedmont can choose Ava’s Bright Choice service or return to PG&E service at any time. Your participation is helping Ava move toward 100% carbon-free electricity for all customers by 2030.
