“East Bay Community Energy exists to provide clean, reliable and affordable electricity to residents, businesses, and governments across Alameda County and starting in 2021, the city of Tracy. At a time when the climate action imperative has never been more clear, and the challenges to keep the lights on in response to extreme weather are front and center, EBCE is initiating a procurement effort to contract for new, clean and reliable electricity to serve hundreds of thousands of East Bay residents and businesses. We expect many of these projects to include the critical energy storage that the California grid needs to maintain reliability. These projects will also create thousands of good, family-sustaining jobs across the state over the next five years.” said EBCE CEO Nick Chaset.
There will be a Respondent Webinar on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM PT to review key information in the protocol. All submissions for this RFO are due by Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 2:00pm PPT. For more information, visit the RFO webpage (https://ebce.org/2020-rfo/).
EBCE’s previous RFO resulted in contracts for 550 MW of wind and solar and over 150 MW of battery energy storage projects. The first two projects from that solicitation will come online in January 2021. For more information visit https://ebce.org/power-projects/.
