EBCE offers $3 million in low cost financing to fund $12 million of local transportation electrification projects

Energy agency issues Request for Offers to accelerate electric truck market

Oakland, Calif. (September 13, 2022) – East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), the local public agency that provides electricity services throughout Alameda County and the City of Tracy, is working to create Northern California’s largest battery electric truck network. EBCE has issued a Request for Offers (RFO) that seeks to invest in local zero-emission medium and heavy-duty (MD/HD) goods movement vehicle and/or charging infrastructure projects.

Available here, the RFO issued today includes these highlights:

  • EBCE is offering up to $3 million in low-cost debt to help fund projects

  • Funds can be used for capital investments in on-road zero-emission vehicles and/or charging infrastructure

  • Projects need to be in service by July 2024

  • Minimum EBCE financing amount is $1 million

  • Projects must bring external capital equal to or greater than 3x EBCE’s investment in the project

  • EBCE is prioritizing projects that help small and medium operators of on-road class 3-8 goods movement vehicles

  • EBCE is prioritizing projects that eliminate emissions associated with the use of diesel fuel in communities within 2 miles of freight corridors throughout its service area
