What We Do

Ava Community Energy (Ava) provides electricity generation at competitive rates to just about every home and business in the areas we serve. We offer individuals, businesses, and cities the ability to choose green power ā€” or power at lower rates than PG&E. And, as a public agency, we invest excess revenue back into our local communities through electrification programs and grants.

Providing Clean Power

We are the default electricity provider in Alameda County and the City of Tracy. We are a Community Choice Aggregator, which is a not-for-profit local government agency that generates electricity for everyone in the community. The City Council or county supervisors vote to have their community join and have us as their electricity supplier.

How It Works

Stylized animation depicting a wind turbine and solar panel.
1. We buy clean power.
We build ā€” and buy from ā€” clean power plants. We sell the power to customers.
2. PG&E delivers the power.
Our power is delivered to customers by PG&E. Customers pay PG&E for power delivery as they always have, but no longer pay PG&E for electricity generation.

3. You get the power and all the benefits.
Customers benefit from clean energy, low rates, local governance, and innovative programs.
