Ava SmartHome Charging

Earn rewards and save money by charging your EV on cleaner energy.

What is Ava SmartHome Charging?

Ava SmartHome Charging is our new EV and PHEV managed charging program, launched in partnership with Optiwatt, a trusted leader in managed charging technology. This program automatically shifts your charging to times when renewable energy is cheaper and more available.

Ava customers who charge their EVs and PHEVs at home can join the program and earn up to $75 in one-time rewards and $25 annually per vehicle, in addition to an estimated $140 annual electricity bill savings.

Using Optiwatt’s intelligent charging algorithm, SmartHome Charging automatically optimizes your charging schedule to ensure your vehicle is ready when you need it while taking advantage of low-cost, clean energy times.

How It Works

Support the Grid While You Save

Many EV charging schedulers simply charge when rates drop, without considering when renewable energy is available. When thousands of EVs start charging at once, it creates new energy peaks that strain the grid and reduce our use of clean power.

SmartHome Charging solves this by using real-time data to find times when rates are low and renewable energy is abundant. We offer rewards because your participation helps Ava meet your energy needs more efficiently. So while you save at home, you’re also supporting a stronger, cleaner grid for everyone.

By shifting your charging with this program, you’re not only saving on electricity, you’re also increasing the use of renewable energy and helping maintain grid stability for everyone.

Note: You may have seen other programs that promise savings of $600-$700 per year. You may indeed save that much if you are currently charging entirely at peak times. But our research shows that many EV drivers have already made the effort to charge off-peak. While we’re confident our program provides additional value beyond your current charging habits, our numbers reflect a realistic savings target.
