EBCE is now Ava Community Energy

On October 24, 2023, East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) became Ava Community Energy (Ava).

This name change is part of a larger brand refresh for the agency. Our new name, and dynamic new look and feel, are designed to help welcome our new constituents from outside the East Bay, and to help Ava better communicate the advantages of electrification to all our customers.

Your service and rates are not changing. Your benefits will continue to increase, however, as Ava Community Energy has exciting new programs coming your way soon.

Why did EBCE change its name?

EBCE has grown to serve customers outside of Alameda County, and as we begin service in Stockton and Lathrop in 2025, this will be even more true. Through research, it became clear that not everyone in the EBCE service territory identifies as belonging to the “East Bay.” We want all community members to feel included, so we have evolved our name to better signal that we’re for all our constituents.

Why the name Ava Community Energy?

It is short, easy to say, and memorable. And while it is not an acronym, it is inspired by the fact that we serve Alameda County and the Valley.

Has there been a change of ownership?

No, there has been no change of ownership. Ava remains a public power agency that is governed by a Board of elected officials from each member jurisdiction.

Does EBCE’s transition to Ava change anything about my service or account?

No, the transition to Ava Community Energy will not change anything about your service or account.

Your rates and pricing will not change as a result of this brand evolution.

Will EBCE/Ava’s phone number remain the same?

Yes, Ava’s phone number (+1 833.699.3223) remains unchanged.

Can I still reach you at customer-support@ebce.org?

Yes, emails sent to customer-support@ebce.org will be forwarded to the new customer service email address customer-support@AvaEnergy.org.

Will Ava Community Energy be known as ACE for short?

No, when we need to shorten our name, we’ll use Ava.
