Alameda County’s Energy Transition

In order to offer unincorporated Alameda County (including Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, San Lorenzo, and Sunol) businesses and residents cleaner energy and to help the County achieve its Climate Action Plan goals, on October 4, 2016, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance creating the East Bay Community Energy Authority (later rebranded as Ava Community Energy). Ava began serving residential, business, and municipal electricity customers throughout Alameda County in 2018. Customers were automatically placed on Ava’s Bright Choice service, which offers customers a 5% discount on their electric supply.

Customers in Alameda County can choose Ava’s Renewable 100 service or return to PG&E service at any time. Your participation is helping Ava move toward 100% carbon-free electricity for all customers by 2030.
