Howard Chang
Chief Executive Officer
Howard serves as Chief Executive Officer of Ava Community Energy where he oversees all facets of Ava’s operations. He currently serves on the boards of CalCCA, the California Community Choice Financing Authority, California Community Power, Veloz, and CFEE. He joined Ava Community Energy in 2017 as Chief Operating Officer with direct responsibility over the Power Procurement, Finance, Technology & Analytics, and Administrative functions. Prior to Ava, Howard led Sol Systems’ Utility Development and M&A efforts nationally and worked at SunEdison leading the Commercial & Industrial Channel Operations team, as Chief of Staff of the North America Region, and in Utility Scale Project Finance. He began his career in Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan. Howard holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and a BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
