Ava Bike Electric

Ava Bike Electric is an incentive program that aims to increase access to e-bikes, reduce carbon emissions, and support local businesses. Learn more about how the program works and apply now at the bottom of this page for an instant rebate of $400 to $1,500 off a new e-bike.


How It Works

Step 1: Apply Online

Complete the form at the bottom of this page. We’ll verify your eligibility and notify you by email after you apply.

Step 2: Monthly Random Drawings

Eligible applicants are automatically entered into three consecutive monthly drawings. Random drawings take place on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Anyone deemed eligible by 11:59 PM the day prior will be entered in that month’s drawing.

Step 3: Get an Instant Rebate

If you are selected, you’ll receive an email with your unique instant rebate code and details about your instant rebate amount.

Step 4: Purchase a New E-Bike

Redeem your instant rebate at any participating bike shop. You must complete your e-bike purchase within 60 days of receiving your instant rebate.

Not selected in the first drawing? Don’t worry! You will be automatically entered into the next two monthly drawings. If you aren’t selected after three drawings, you can opt in for up to three more drawings or re-apply at a later date.

*To be eligible for the Income-Qualified Instant Rebate, your household must be enrolled in California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE), Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA), or Energy Assistance Program (EAP). Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Ava Bike Electric program, applicants must be: 

  • A customer of Ava Community Energy OR a resident of Alameda County 
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Able to show photo ID and proof of address during rebate redemption 

Eligible applicants may qualify for one (1) instant rebate per person with a maximum of two (2) instant rebates per household. Each person in a household must apply individually. Only one entry per person is allowed. Submitting multiple applications will not increase your chances of being selected.

We offer rebates for three different types of e-bikes:

Standard E-Bike
Lightweight and easy to maneuver for an enjoyable daily commute, running errands, and getting around town. Also called commuter or city e-bikes, the comfortable, upright design makes these ideal for first-time e-bike riders.
cargo e-bike
Cargo E-Bike
With powerful pedal assist and extra stability features, cargo e-bikes are larger than standard e-bikes and designed for carrying passengers and heavier loads.
adaptive e-bike
Adaptive E-Bike
Innovative designs for riders with mobility challenges. Options include tandem, recumbent, and tricycle models to ensure everyone can enjoy cycling.

Since each participating bike shop carries different brands and models, we recommend contacting your preferred shop first to check availability.
