Stockton approves alternate electric utility option to PG&E
KXTV covers Stockton’s approval to use an alternate electricity provider to PG&E. “We think that there’s tremendous appetite and interest in the solutions that we bring,” EBCE CEO Nick Chaset told ABC10. “First and foremost, affordability is key in a city like Stockton where there is a significant energy burden on many residents and so bringing that savings proposition, it’s going to be something that we think is a no-brainer.” -

Wind and solar energy to become the default in Berkeley
Berkeley’s city council voted in June 2021 to switch from partially renewable energy to fully wind and solar-powered energy. This change from EBCE’s Bright Choice plan to the Renewable 100 plan went into effect in March for residential accounts. Businesses willl transition to October. -

Californians saved the grid again. They should be paid more for it
Smart thermostats, EVs, and home batteries can help the grid become more resilient. Last year, the CPUC launched the Emergency Load Reduction Program (ELRP) to offer $1 per kilowatt-hour of load reduction. EBCE CEO Nick Chaset chimes in on the structure of this program and concerns with it in conjunction with Ava’s Resilient Home program with Sunrun. -

The City of Piedmont has been awarded the Institute of Local Governments Beacon Spotlight Award for Sustainability Best Practices at the platinum level. Part of the their efforts included partnering with EBCE to install four public EV chargers. -
