Ava launched the SmartHome Battery program, an $11.24 million rebate program for residential customers installing solar and battery storage in their homes. The program supports Ava’s mission to make electrification more affordable for our customers and maintain grid stability.

The City of Piedmont celebrated the opening of their new all-electric aquatic center after many years of planning and construction. The center is the second all-electric public facility in California. Ava provided a no-interest loan to fund the purchase of heat pumps that warm the two pools and supports the facilities goal in being carbon emission free.

Ava announced the launch of SmartHome Battery, an $11 million program to support residential customers installing solar and battery storage systems in their homes. The goal of SmartHome Battery is to make it more affordable for customers to own a home solar and battery system, reduce their electricity bill, and build a stronger local grid.

Independent News spotlights Ava’s e-bike incentive program, which helped fund more than 2,700 e-bike purchases in the first six months of the program. Backed by Ava’s local community investment fund and Alameda County Transportation Commission, the program is designed to help residents reduce their dependence on cars and lower transportation costs.

Starting in May 2026, Ava is the new electricity service provider for unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County, following a unanimous Board of Supervisors vote to join in 2024. This change is part of both Ava and San Joaquin County’s mission to provide affordable rates for customers in the area.

Approximately 60,000 accounts in unincorporated San Joaquin County are eligible for Ava service beginning in May. Ava already serves the San Joaquin County cities of Tracy, Stockton, and Lathrop, as well as all of Alameda County except the City of Alameda.

The Livermore Municipal Airport revealed their brand new mural celebrating transportation innovation. The mural created by local youth artists illustrates a clean energy future filled with wind, solar, and other sustainable resources. The project was supported by artists at the Livermore Valley Arts’ Bothwell Arts Center and local clean-air organizations, including a Community Sponsorship from Ava.

Ava Community Energy has launched its first electric vehicle (EV) fast charging station in downtown Oakland. The first in a network of up to fifteen fast charging stations planned by Ava, their goal is offering greater convenience for current users and beginning to break down barriers to EV adoption.

Ava partnered with Bike East Bay to host a e-bike test and ride at the Oakland Coliseum BART station parking lot. The San Francisco Chronicle attended the free event, where community members connected with local bike shops, instructors, and were able to test-ride various e-bike models. About 600 people RSVPed, many of which were recipients of Ava Bike Electric rebates, and were test-riding e-bikes to help them decide which models to buy.
